EC asks parties to submit income, expenditure docs Staff Reporter By today (Sunday) registered political parties have to submit their documents of income and expenditure to the Election Commission (EC) as per the registration rules.EC sources said only six registered political parties out of 38 have so far submitted their documents. The mainstream political parties like Awami League, BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami did not submit their financial records yet. The parties that already submitted their records are Jatiya Party, Bangladesh Communist Party (CPB), Bangladesh National Awami Party (NAP), Zaker Party, Khelafat Majlish and Islami Andolan. Election Commissioner Mohammad Sohul Hossain told the reporters that they would send showcause notice to the political parties if they fail to submit their documents within the period. Even the Commission can take legal action against the parties if their response were not acceptable, he warned. According to article 190/H of Representation of the People Ordinance (RPO), if any political party fail to submit its documents consecutively then the registration of that party may be cancelled, Sohul added. EC sources said the Commission issued a letter to the political parties to submit their financial documents in due time.
