President Zillur Rahman administered the oath of Chief Justice M Fazlul Karim at Bangabhaban yesterday morning.

Deputy leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, former chiefs of the caretaker governments Justice Habibur Rahman and Justice Latifur Rahman, outgoing Chief Justice M Tafazzul Islam, Cabinet Members, Advisers to the Prime Minister, Deputy Speaker, State Ministers, former chief justices, Appellate Division and High Court Division judges of the Supreme Court, chiefs of different services, secretaries, senior lawyers and senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony. Cabinet secretary M Abdul Aziz conducted the swearing in ceremony at the Bangabhaban.

Speaking to the journalists, the new Chief Justice said that he would try his level best to ensure rule of law in the country.

"I seek best wishes of the countrymen so that I would be able to maintain rule of law in the country," he said.
