'Quality management program would be beneficial by sharing expertise, experiences'

State Minister, Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology, Architect Yeafesh Osman stressed on the quality management system, saying that it can make an organization more effective.

He also assured that the Government would continue its support to such programs in Bangladesh and it is expected that quality management program would be beneficial to the participating countries through sharing the expertise and experiences.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of 5-day regional training course on "The Establishment of Quality Management Programmes Applicable to all Technical Services" within the framework of the IAEA technical cooperation project RAS/91053 'Strengthening Occupational Radiation Protection' was held on Sunday at a city hotel.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) jointly organized the programme with an objective to provide guidance to technical services in radiation safety on developing and implementation of quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001, ISO 9004 and ISO 17025 standards.

Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) was present in the ceremony as the Special Guest while Dr. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Member, Physical Science, BAEC presided over the ceremony.

A total of 25 participants and 3 Observers from 15 Asian countries are participating in the Training Course.

IAEA is actively promoting the establishment of quality systems in the member state laboratories by providing technical support.
