Extortion in cattle markets: Sahara warns steps against party cadres involved BSS, Dhaka Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun on Wednesday warned of tough action against those, who would be found involved in extortion in the cattle markets in any part of the country on the eve of the holy Eid ul Azha. "Even any worker or leader of our party and its associate organizations and also my close relatives will not be spared, if found involved in terrorism, extortion and militancy," she said while addressing a function at Pallabi community centre here. State Minister of for Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs Advocate Kamrul Islam was the special guest on the occasion with Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police Khandkar Lutful Kabir in the chair. Pallabi Thana unit of Bangladesh Awami League arranged the function on the occasion of handing over two micro buses to Pallabi Police Station by local lawmaker Ekhlash Uddin Mollah. The function was also addressed, among others, President of Pallabi Thana Awami League Ekhlash Uddin Mollah, MP, Shahida Tarek Dipty MP and Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) AKM Shahidul Haque. Advocate Sahara Khatun said none would be spared if found trying to snatch hide and skin of the sacrificial animals during the Eid-Ul- Azha. She said the overall law and order is better than any other time in the past. "The government will recruit an additional 32,000 personnel for the police force within the next three years to further improve law and order," she said. The Home Minister urged all lawmakers like Ekhlash Uddin Mollah to donate at least one vehicle to his or her nearest police station to help the law enforcers perform their duty smoothly and efficiently. She urged the leaders and workers of Awami League and its associate organizations to come forward with a missionary zeal to help build Digital Bangladesh by the year 2021 for materializing the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Advocate Kamrul Islam dubbed police as friends of the people, because they are now really working for the nation with their utmost sincerity, honesty and efficiency. He urged all to remain alert till the final execution of the recent verdict of the apex court of the country.
