Barisal City Corporation (BCC) authority has decided to open three sub offices of BCC at three corners of the city for convenience of citizen services. Advocate Shawkat Hossain Hiron, Mayor, and Ranjit Das, chief executive officer of BCC, said that Barisal Metropolis has a population of about half million and there are 30 wards covering 45 square kilometres area under BCC.

Everyday, many citizens go to BCC at the entrance point of the city near Barisal port facing lot of troubles and expending huge time and money to get service, to pay dues or to lodge complain. To ease these sufferings, BCC has decided to divide the 30 wards of the city into three zones as Ka, Kha and Ga to open three sub offices, that is one for every ten wards.

"Already we visited the BCC lands to select sites for Ka zone at Kawnia housing and Amanatganj power house areas and land for Kha zone at Nabogramme and Alekanda Amtala areas. The selection team will soon visit the proposed sites of Ga zone also,"said officials. After finalizing the sites, three sub offices of BCC would be constructed and started functioning by December 2010, they hoped.
