District Administration has taken an elaborate programme to celebrate the Victory Day on December 16 in the district here in a befitting manner. The programmes were adopted at a joint meeting of the district administration, leaders of different political parties, heads of educational institutions, representatives from various socio-cultural organizations and freedom fighters.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Shahidul Islam chaired the meeting held in the conference room of district collectorate building here on Sunday. The programmes include heralding of the day with 21 gun shots at dawn, placing floral wreaths at the monuments, hoisting of national flag atop all private and public buildings, colourful rallies, decoration of the roads with national and coloured flags, march past by police, jail guard, ansar, VDP, BNCC, Scouts, students of local Shishu Paribars and schools and colleges at the local stadium and screening documentary films on liberation war, organizing of discussion, charity football match, reception to freedom fighters and cultural function. Besides, improved diet will be served among the inmates of hospitals, jails and orphanages in the distract.

Police super M. Shahadat Hossain, additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Al-Amin, vice president of district AL Sadrul Kabir Angur, president of Gaibandha chamber of commerce and industry Shajada Anwarul Quadir and general secretary of district rover scouts Azharul Haque Lalu, addressed

the meeting, among others.

A large number of people including district level officials, UNOs, political leaders, heads of social and academic institutions and the journalists attended the meeting.
