Special steamer, launch, sea-truck and ferry services on the major rivers and coastal routes will start for two weeks to ease the sufferings of the passengers on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) are launching the services.

The special steamer service will begin on November 24 on different routes and continue till December 6, said BIWTC deputy general manager (commercial and passenger) ANM Shahadat Ali.

Besides, regular and special sea truck service on eight coastal routes of Barisal, Bhola, Laxmipur, Noakhali districts from Nov 25 to 30 and coastal shipping service on Hatiya-Chittagong-Hatiya with coastal ships MV Baro Awlia, MV Abdul Matin and MV Manirul Huq will be operated from Nov 25 to 29 as regular and Eid special services.

The additional ferry trips will be activated on Paturia-Daulatdia, Mawa-Charjanajat, Chandpur-Shariatpur, Bhola-Laxmipur and Laharhat-Veduria river routes, BIWTC sources Said.

BIWTA also declared that they will operate Eid special launch services on 21 routes from Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chandpur on different routes of Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Madaripur, Manikganj, Munshiganj and Shariatpur districts from Nov 24 to Dec 5.
