Police obstruct BJI’s human chain programme Our Correspondent, Barisal Barisal Metropolitan Police foiled a human chain programme initiated by Bangladesh Jamaat e Islami (BJI) in front of Barisal Aswani Kumar Hall on Monday afternoon. Later the BJI leaders and workers left the spot and assembled at Chawkbazar-Falpatty-Girzamahalla crossing in the city. Principal Aminul Kha-shru, Secretary of City BJI, condemning the Police action said when JI leaders and activists tried to assemble in front of Aswani Kumar Hall to observe the pre-scheduled peaceful human chain programme against the proposed education policy, Police objected to the programme and showed an order signed by deputy commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police banning the programme stating that law and order in the city might be hampered. Then the JI leaders and activists went to Chawkbazar-Falpatty-Girzamahalla crossing in the city and observed the programme before Police intervened. Advocate Mu-azzam Hossain Helal, Aminul Islam Khasru, Bazlur Rahman Bac-hchu, Abdur Rob, Abul Jabbar, leaders of city and district JI addressed the programme. The speakers brandedx the proposed education policy against religion, morality, ethics, communal harmony and even against the constitution of the country. If this education policy would not be withdrawn, then JI would start hard mass movement against that, JI leaders cautioned.
