Plaintiff assaulted, house burnt for filing murder case case

Plaintiff poor Monira Begum (40) has been assaulted, house burnt and then evicted for filing murder case against the killers of her father. Monira hails from Suryonagar West under Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur district. The killers and the accomplices have not only evicted her from her dwe-lling house, they burnt it and manufactured as many as 24 cases against her.

It is that on December 7, 2004, one Bahadur Ali Bachchu and his partners in crime alluring poor farmer Sakimuddin (50) of a job at Jamuna Fertilser Factory escorted him from his on house to an unknown place. Three days after, his corpse was found lying at Tarakandi area under Sarisabari upazila in the district. Monira filed murder case against seven persons from the same village.

At the filing of the case, the opponents flew into rage, severely assaulted her several times, ejected her from her own dwelling house, burnt it and occupied her 1.47 acres of ploughable land. The gangsters tried also to kidnap Monira but Police foiled it. Monira said that the felons launched their last attack on her on 28 April and killed her foetus. She said that she had registered six general diaries with the Bakhshiganj Thana but she did not receive justice as yet. Officer in charge Nasim Ahmed told the journalists that the accused were bailed out by the court but she had no problem at this very moment. None of the accused, however, could be contacted.
