'Steps taken to develop education sector’: Primary education foundation of all educations

The present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken up effective steps for overall development of the education sector including structural development to build an enlightened nation. "New building of the educational institutions can play a vital role in solving the accommodation problems of the students and help them receive education with enthusiasm," MP Mahbub Ara Begum Gini said this while addressing an inaugural function of a new building of Purbapara Government Primary School of the town here on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.

Mentioning the primary education as the foundation of all educations, the lawmaker urged the people to enroll their all children in primary schools by 2011 and complete their education with a success to make an illiteracy free country and help the government to implement the programme 'education for all by 2014".

Describing various welfare initiatives undertaken by the present government, the MP said new textbooks would be distributed among the students and tiffin has to be introduced to them aimed at increasing their enrollment rates and reducing the dropout ones. The poor students would be brought under the stipend programme to help them complete their primary education with a success, the also added.

No primary scholarship examinations would be held separately anymore, she said adding that a final examination (FE) would be held in each of the unions of the upazila in the country from now

and the scholarships would be given by evaluating the results of the FE so that the teachers could care of all children equally to make them competent for the examinations.

Presided over by GM Chowdhury Mithu, president of school managing committee (SMC), the function was also addressed, among others, by upazila engineer of LGED Abul Mansur, labour affairs secretary of district AL Samar Chaki and local elderly person and politician Nirmaluendu Barmon.

A large of people, including teachers, students, members of SMC, local elite and the political leaders were present on the occasion.
