The 123rd birth anniversary of poet Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal will be observed today.

To mark his birth anniversary, Allama Iqbal Society of Bangladesh will organise a seminar in the city today.

The seminar on "Contribution of Allama Iqbal in the Muslim Renaissance of Bangladesh" will be held at the National Press Club at 4:30p.m.

Iranian Ambassador to Dhaka Hassan Farazondeh will attend the function as the chief guest, while Afzaal Mohmood, Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka will be the special guest.

Allama Iqbal, who was a philosopher, poet and spiritual Muslim saint, was born on 9 November in 1877 at Sialkot of Punjab in Pakistan.
