15 countries to participate in 'Power Bangladesh’ exhibition Staff Reporter A three-daylong power exhibition styled "Power Bangladesh 2009" with participation of 15 countries will begin from 12th of this month at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Prime Minister's Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury Bir Bikram will be present in the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while state minister for power and energy Brig Gen (retd) Enamul Huq will be special guest. The CEMS Ltd jointly with Bangla Trac Limited (Bangla cat) and Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd will organise the exhibition. The exposition will remain open for visitors from 10.30AM to 7.30 PM daily on registration. It will be the premier international exhibition on power generation and transmission, PV Power and energy and renewable energy sector in Bangladesh, CEMS President Ms. Meherun N Islam told the reporters at a press conference at the National Press Club. She said that 34-renowned companies from USA, UK, Turkey, Austria, China, India, Malaysia, Germany, Singapore and 44 local firms would participate in the exposition. This exhibition will bring together under one roof all stakeholders in the power and energy sector in the country , Meherun hoped. "We will be able to draw attention of foreign direct investment through the exhibition," she said, adding that it would also play vital role in familiarizing local entrepreneurs with the latest technology in power and energy sector. The government has targeted to invest $9,500m including $7,000m for power generation, $1,000m for transmission and $1,500m for distribution for developing power sector by 2014.
