Muktijoddha SKC becomes unbeaten champions in Philosophia 2nd Div Chess League UNB, Dhaka Muktijoddha Sangsad KC became unbeaten champions in the Philosophia 2nd Division Chess League with 18 points after beating Asad Chess Club by 4-0 points in the 9th and last round matches at Chess Federation hall-room on Friday. Nebula Chess Club finished runners-up while Sharon Sporting Club became third in the league. Both Nebula CC and Sharon SC have earned 13 points each, but in the tie breaking play-off match Nebula beat Sharon by 4.5-3.5 points to clinch the 2nd slot. Other positions: 4th- Dragon Chess Club (12 points), 5th- Dania Power Chess Club, (10), 6th- Asad Chess Club of Habigonj (10), 7th- Royal Electronics (9), 8th- Fire Service & Civil Defense Sports Club (9), 9th- Friends Chess Power (9), 10th- Sirajganj DSA (9), 11th- Ulon Chess Club (9), 12th- Habiganj Chess Club (9), 13th- Agrani Bank Karmochari Sangsad, CBA (8), 14th- Anirban Chess School(7), 15th- Bangladesh Women Chess Association (7), 16th- Alhaj MA Karim Chess Club Rajbari (5), 17th- Kasparov Chess Club, (5), 18th- Ekota Shapla Sangha (4), and 19th- Sabbir Group (1). Result of last round games: Nebula beat Royal by 3-1 points, Sharon SC beat Sirajganj by 3.5-0.5 points, Dragon Chess beat Agrani Bank by 4-0 points, Dania beat Women Chess by 2.5-1.5 points, Ulon beat Anirban by 3-1 points, Friends Chess beat Kasparov by 2-1 points, Fire Service beat Alhaz MA Karim by 3-1 points and Habiganj Chess Club beat Sabbir Group by 3-1 points. The prize giving ceremony was also held Friday at the same venue. Mohammad Hatim, Managing Director of MB Knit Fashion was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and handed over the prizes. Mirza Enamul Hossain, Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation, and GM Ziaur Rahman were present as special guests at the function chaired by Mokaddes Hossain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation. A total of 19 teams participated in the 9-round Swiss-League basis competition. Champions Muktijoddha SKC received Tk 10,000 as prize money along with trophy, runners-up Nebula CC got Tk 6,000 & third- placed Sharon SC got Tk 4,000.
