Winter vegetable prices start coming down Staff Reporter Price of different varieties of winter vegetables started coming down with the smooth supply of that in the city's kitchen markets yesterday. Most of the winter vegetables were selling between Tk 25 and Tk 30 per kg that was between Tk 35 and Tk 40 in the previous week. Traders in the Kaptan Bazar said as the winter was approaching so the supply of the seasonal vegetables were gradually increasing, helping to coming down the prices. They hoped that price of winter vegetables would be normal in the next couple of weeks. However, the price of onion, garlic, ginger, eggs and different varieties of fish remained high while the price of sugar decreased slightly. Local variety of onion was sold between Tk 42 and Tk 45 per kg yesterday while imported ones were sold between Tk 32 and Tk 35. Garlic was sold between Tk 90 and Tk 100 and ginger between Tk 50 and Tk 80 per kg. As per the statistics of the state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) yesterday, in the last year local variety of onion was sold between Tk 28 and Tk 32 per kg while imported ones between Tk 22 and Tk 24 and per kg of local variety of garlic was sold between Tk 26 and Tk 30 and imported ones between Tk 28 and Tk 34 and ginger depending on quality was sold between Tk 35 and Tk 55. Per kg sugar was sold between Tk 52 and Tk 55 yesterday that was sold between Tk 56 and Tk 58 in the last week. Per hali (four of each) eggs was sold between Tk 30 and Tk 32. Coarse variety of rice was sold between Tk 24 and Tk 25 per kg. BR-28 was sold between Tk 28 and Tk 30 per kg that was Tk 26 in the last week. Miniket was sold between Tk 35 and Tk 36 per kg that was sold at Tk 32 in the previous week. Nazirshail, depending on its quality, was sold between Tk 40 and Tk 44 per kg. Per kg of potato was sold at Tk 28 and Tk 30, tomato between Tk 65 and Tk 70, bean between Tk 35 and Tk 40, brinjal between Tk 30 and Tk 35, papaya was sold between Tk 10 and Tk 12 and Green chilli per kg was sold between Tk 35 and Tk 40 per kg. Per kg of soyabean was sold between Tk 76 and Tk 78, super between Tk 68 and Tk 70 and palm oil between Tk 65 and Tk 66 in the retail markets yesterday. Beef was sold between Tk 220 and Tk 230 per kg while broiler meat was sold at Tk 120. A medium size of Hilsha fish was sold between 300 and Tk 350 and per kg of Ruhi fish was sold between Tk 150 and Tk 180.
