Muktijoddha Sangsad KC emerged champions in the Philosophia 2nd Division Chess League with one round in hand securing 16 points after beating Royal Electronics by 2.5-1.5 points in the 8th round match at the Chess Federation on Thursday.

Nebula Chess Club and Sharon Sporting Club are jointly in the 2nd position with 11 points each.

Nebula Chess Club beat Agrani Bank Karmochari Sangsad (CBA) by 4-0 points, Sharon Sporting Club defeated Dragon Chess Club by 2.5-1.5 points, Asad Chess Club of Habiganj beat Friend Chess Club by 2.5 -1.5 points, Sirajganj DSA beat Anirban Chess School by 3-1 points, Ulon Chess Club beat Sabbir Group by 3-1 points, Kasparov Chess Club beat Alhaj MA.Karim Chess Club of Rajbari by 2.5-1.5 points, Fire Service & Civil Defense Sports Club drew with Dania Power Chess Club by 2-2 points, Bangladesh

Women's Chess Association drew with Habiganj Chess Club by 2-2 points.

The 9th and last round games will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 11 am at the same venue. The prize giving ceremony will be held later in the afternoon at the Chess Federation.

Meanwhile, the weekly Toyota Motors Rapid Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday from 10:30 am at the Bangladesh Chess Federation.

It's an open event for all the chess players. Interested players can enroll

by today (Friday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation with entry fees.

The competition will be held on Swiss-League system.
