Shahriar Nafees makes century: Bangladesh Biman take joint lead in Premier League beating CCS by four wickets UNB, Dhaka With three consecutive victory Bangladesh Biman took the lead in the Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League beating Cricket Coaching School (CCS) by four wickets at the BKSP ground in Savar on Thursday. The game was turned as 49-over a side match due to rain at noon. After the day's match, national flag carrier Biman dominated the league table with holders Abahani Limited and Mohammedan SC securing full six points from three league outings. Sent into bat first, CCS faced initial batting collapse losing three wickets -Rabiul Islam (3), Tariquzzaman (1) and Atiqur Rahman (0)--for 12 in 7.4 overs, but an 89-run 4th wicket partnership by opener Uttam Sarker and number five Nizamuddin carried the team total to 176 runs for all in 48.5 overs. Number six batsman Nazmul Hossain also played a key role in the CCS innings contributing team highest 55 runs off 57 deliveries hitting three fours and four sixes. Opener Uttam Sarker scored a patient 54 runs off 94 balls including six fours while Nizamuddin made 95-ball 45 runs featuring two boundaries. Pacer Tareq Aziz Khan grabbed four wickets for 28 runs while another pacer Talha Zubayer claimed three wickets for 19 runs to restrict CCS below 200 runs. Chasing an easy target, Bangladesh Biman had to loss six wickets to reach the target making 178 runs in 46 overs with skipper Sanwar Hossain making 44 runs in 63 deliveries with a boundary. Besides, Sharifullah (not out 38), Imran Ahmed (28), opener Jahirul Islam (25) and Elias Sunny (14) were the other notable contributors for Biman reaching the double figures. Ashraful Haque took two wickets for 39 runs. In the day's other match, start-studded Gazi Tank Cricketers suffered another blow in the premier league as they split points with all loser Partex SC in tie-match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Fatullah. Gazi tank Cricketers, which conceded a 44-run defeat against Old DOHS in the opening match, today batted first after winning the toss and scored 266 runs for 8 in 50 overs featuring an eye-catching century by one down Shahriar Nafees. Nafees hammered 103 runs off 117 balls hitting 12 fours and one six while Farhad Hossain made 58 runs off 86 balls including three fours and one six. Rezaul Karim, Waskuruni Ahmed and Pakistani Rashed Hanif took two wickets each conceding 23, 28 and 52 runs respectively. In reply, Partex SC also scored 266 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs forcing the match to a tie. Opener Gazi Salauddin scored 84 runs off 81 balls featuring 10 fours and two sixes while one down Rezaul Haque made 66 runs off 108 deliveries including three fours and a six. All rounder Alok Kapali captured two wickets for 58 runs.
