Rajshahi University authority recruited 48 teachers for nine department of the university considering students welfare as per the decision of university syndicate on Thursday evening. The appointed forty eight teachers of the university joined their respective departments on Saturday.

The authority have recruited five teachers for Folklore department, five teachers for History department, four teachers for Islamic History and Culture department, nine teachers for Genetics Engineering and Biotechnology department . The authority also appointed seven teachers at Mass Communication and Journalism department, six teachers at Law and Justice Department, two teachers at English department, six teachers at Sociology department and four teachers at Fine Arts department.

While contacted, Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr.M Abdus Sobhan said "We have already taken initiative to recruit teachers for several departments to solve teachers' crisis and for conducting more research works in the greater interest of providing quality education to the students.

He also said , "We have recruited honest and meritorious students as teachers to cement RU as a centre of excellence.We will not recruit anyone on political consideration unlike the past."
