President leaves for Istanbul today

President Zillur Rahman will leave here today to attend the Economic Summit of COMCEC (Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation) of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in the Turkish city of Istanbul on November 9.

The COMCEC will hold the Economic Summit marking its 25th anniversary.

COMCEC Chairman and President of Turkey Abdullah Gul will preside over the summit to be attended by a number of heads of state of the OIC member countries.

President Zillur Rahman will leave today by an Emirates Airlines flight at 10.40 am and arrive Istanbul on November 7 after having a stop over in Dubai. He is expected to return home on November 11.

The President is expected to address the COMCEC economic summit and hold bilateral meetings with heads of different OIC member-states on the sidelines of the summit.

President Zillur Rahman will be accompanied by the concerned secretaries of the Bangabhaban.

Prior to the Economic Summit on November 9, the 25th working and ministerial sessions of COMCEC will be held from November 6 to 8 in Istanbul.

COMCEC meetings are traditionally held with the participation of the ministers of the OIC member-states in charge of economy and trade.

This year, in commemoration of its 25th anniversary, the COMCEC has arranged the economic summit, which will be participated by a number of heads of state for the first time.
