Three put under remand: Ataul says, he never saw Bazlul Huda Staff Reporter Ataul Huda, a nephew of death sentence convict of Bangabandhu murder case Major (retd) Bazlul Huda who was arrested in connection with the bomb attack on Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, MP, is a poor farmer who never saw him (Bazlul Huda) in his life. Detective Branch (DB) police arranged a press briefing at its office yesterday, where Ataul Huda said that he had never seen Bazlul Huda. He said he has only heard the name of Bazlul Huda. He told newsmen before being produced before the court that he owns five-bigha land which he cultivates to maintain his family. Ataul Huda, 38-year old nephew of Bazlul Huda, was placed on four days' remand. He was arrested in the latest manhunt from his house at Hatboalia village in Alamdanga upazila, Chuadanga on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, including Ataul Huda and another two of the seven people arrested in connection with the bomb attack on Awami League lawmaker Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh were taken on police remand yesterday for interrogation. Besides, Nazmul Hasan and Mahbubul Hasan, two sons of another convict Lt Col (retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed, were taken on fresh remand for one day. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Habibur Rahman Siddiqui passed the order yesterday when DB's Assistant Police Super M Akbar Ali produced the three before the court in the afternoon seeking police remand. Police also produced in the court three others arrested earlier in connection with the case. They were Kamrul Haque Swapan, younger brother of another condemned fugitive convict Maj (retd) Shariful Haque Dalim, and Freedom Party workers Shafiullah Sofu and Abdur Rahim. The court rejected bail prayers of Kamrul Haque Swapan and Shafiullah Sofu in the case when their lawyers moved the bail prayers during the remand hearing. Earlier, on Tuesday, Khandaker Mehnaj Rashid, daughter of another convict Col (retd) Khandaker Abdur Rashid, was placed on three days' fresh remand in the case. The bomb attack was carried out on Taposh, a nephew of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, when he was getting into his car in the city's Motijheel commercial area on October 21. He escaped unhurt but at least 15 people were injured in the incident.
