Bangladesh U-19 team beat England U-19 by 8 runs to win 7-match series 5-2

UNB, Dhaka

Bangladesh Under-19 team completed the seven-match Youth ODI series beating England Under-19 team by eight runs to win the series 5-2 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

Favored by coin, Bangladesh batted first to score 206 for all in 49.5 overs with opener Saikat Ali contributing 52 runs off 72 balls that featured six boundaries.

After the dismissal of opener Anamul Haque (16) for 29 runs in 5.3 overs, another opener Saikat Ali pairing with one down Amith Majumder (32) scored 76 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.

Sabbir Rahman (26), Mominul Haque (19), Tasamul Haque (17), Alauddin Babu (14) and skipper Mahmudul Hasan (10) were the major contributors for home side.

Mathew Donn and Nathan Buck claimed three wickets each conceding 42 and 43 runs respectively.

In reply, England Under-19 teams were all out for 198 in 49.1 overs with Joseph Buttler scoring 42, Charles Roebuck 40, Benjamin Stokes 39 and captain Azeem Rafiq 31 runs.

Home team captain Mahmudul Hasan, who scored 10 runs and claimed three wickets for 45 runs, was adjudged man of the match.

Shaker Ahmed and Abul Hasan took two wickets each for 28 and 31 runs.
