180 Policemen fly to UN mission in East Timor

A team of 150 police members left Dhaka yesterday to join the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in East Timor.

The police contingent-led by Police Super Zamshed Ali take off Zia International Airport last night.

Besides, 140 more police members will join East Timor to take part in the peacekeeping mission, said a press release.

Two police contingents of 50 men and 40 men will also fly to East Timor on 5 and 8 November respectively.

A total of 1,522 police members are in the UN peacekeeping mission now.

The UN under secretary for peacekeeping affairs visited Bangladesh recently and showed interest to take more police members including female members from Bangladesh.
