Bangladesh U-19 takes 2-0 lead over England U-19 in youth ODI

Bangladesh Under-19 team took a 2-0 lead over England Under-19 side in a seven-match Youth ODI series outplaying the tourists by seven wickets in the 2nd successive one day match at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Mahmudul Hasan invited the English team to bat first and dismissed them for paltry 97 runs in 35.4 overs despite 41 runs from eight overs in the opening stand.

English openers Joe Root (19) and James Vince (21), tail-ender Nathan Buck (17) and wicket-keeper cum lower order batsman Michael Bates (13) were the notable scorers who reached double figure.

Saikat Ali caused the major damage to England innings snatching four wickets for just 11 runs in 10 overs with five maidens and was adjudged man of the match.

Shaker Ahmed, who was adjudged man of the match in Bangladesh's thrilling one-run victory over England in the 1st Youth ODI in Chittagong, grabbed two wickets for 29 runs in the day's match while pacer Abul Hasan also took two wickets for 26 runs.

Captain Mahmudul Hasan claimed one wicket for 4 runs while Sabbir Rahman also picked up one wicket without conceding any run.

In reply, Bangladesh Under-16 team, riding on 56 runs by opener Anamul Haque, easily reached the target making 100 runs in 22.1 overs for the loss of three wickets.

Anamul's 65-ball innings featured seven fours and two sixes.

Mominul Haque (not out 12), Saikat Ali (9), Tasamul Haque (9) and Amit Majumder (4) were the other scorers for home side.

Paul Best took two wickets for 19 runs.

Bangladesh Under-19 team will play their 3rd Youth ODI match against England Under-19 team today (Tuesday) at the same venue.
