Iran keen to form BIPEG to enchance ties BSS, Dhaka Iran is keen to form 'Bangladesh-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group (BIPFG)' for enhancing contacts between the parliaments of the two countries and also the existing bilateral ties. The interest was shown by Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Hassan Farazandeh when he called on Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate at the latter's office here on Sunday. During the meeting, the ambassador said there exists enough scopes for increasing mutual ties in the fields of trade, economy and culture between the two countries, a JS press release said here. Farazandeh said Iran would like to tap the potentials properly existing in different sectors. He also offered the Speaker to visit Iran at a mutually convenient time. Welcoming the proposal of forming BIPFG, Abdul Hamid termed the existing relations between Bangladesh and Iran as old and historical. The Speaker expressed his optimism that the existing relations between the two friendly countries would further be increased in the days to come. He said if formed, the BIPFG would enable the parliament members of both the countries to exchange views more among them and also strengthen the democratic practices. Parliament secretary Ashfak Hamid and higher officials were present during the meeting.
