Armed cadres yesterday stormed the Ittefaq Office, injured its Executive Editor Syed Tosharaf Ali, attacked the office room of Barrister Mainul Hosein and tried to enter the office room of his son and Managing Editor of the Daily, Arshad Hosein.

At that time Barrister Mainul Hosein, Executive Director, was not in the office. It may be mentioned Barrister Mainul Hosein remains busy with legal profession in his law chamber.

Police was present at the Ittefaq Bhaban during the incident. Tension was running high at the office from late in the afternoon till late in the evening.

Some employees of the office were beaten up seriously by the outsiders.

It is alleged that Mr Anwar Hossain distributed Tk.two to three crore in the office earlier.

The trouble started, as some employees of the Daily Ittefaq were pasting posters for and against those who wanted to know why so much money was distributed. There was tension among the employees because some employees were not given the money.

Director and Managing Editor of the daily, Arshad Hosein demanded an inquiry as to why Taka three crore was distributed in the office of the paper. According to him, the money was distributed for capturing the Daily Ittefaq.
