Kate Dennison has broken the British pole vault record for the seventh time this year at the Pedros Cup in Poland.

The 25-year-old cleared 4.60m to better her own record by two centimetres as she came third behind world champion Anna Rogowska, who cleared 4.70m.

Dennison, who competes for Sale Harriers, first broke Janine Whitlock's record at the UK trials in February.

She then improved it twice in the next month, and again at meetings in Prague, Madrid and Crystal Palace.

The world record for the women's pole vault is 5.06m, held by double Olympic gold medallist Elena Isinbayeva, whose failure to win a medal at the recent World Championships was one of the biggest surprises of the tournament.

On the track, world silver medallist Lisa Dobriskey was edged into second place in the 1500m by America's Christin Wurth-Thomas, who won by 0.32 seconds, clocking a time of four minutes 7.31 seconds.

With her track season now finished, Dobriskey will concentrate on road racing, with mile races at the Great North City Games in Newcastle and New York's Fifth Avenue on the next two weekends.

In the men's 400m, Britain's Robert Tobin came second behind UK-based Sudanese athlete Yusif Rabah, who won in a time of 45.64 seconds.
