CHT peace accord curbs people's right Staff Reporter BNP Vice-President barrister Nazmul Huda yesterday said rights of the country's citizens have been curbed through signing the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) peace treaty. He was speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable on " Peace Treaty, Peace Force and Unrest Hill Tracts" organised by Centre for Democracy and Peace Studies at the National Press Club in thy city. Presided over by the editor of Daily Dinkal Aman Ullah Kabir, the function was addressed by, among others, prominent journalist Sadek Khan, columnist and Kabi Abdul Hye Shikder, Radical Foundation Chairman Emran H Chowdhury, Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Mahanagar unit Amir Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, BNP Palton thana unit President Khandoker Shikder Kader and Executive Director of the organisation Sadek Rahman. "The government should cancel the peace treaty and stop withdrawal of army camps from CHT, if it has love for the country and its citizens", Huda said. He termed the peace treaty and army withdrawal from CHT as threat for the country. Kabi Abdul Hye Shikder alleged that the government was trying to make Indian Highway in the name of Asian Highway. The government is busy more in serving interest of neighbour country rather than its own country, he alleged.
