A young man was beaten to death allegedly by his younger brother at Bhomradanga village in Kotchandpur upazila early on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Ahmad Ali, 35, of the village.

Police said Ahmad locked into an altercation with his younger brother Asad at about 1:30am following his (Ahmad) proposal to marry a widow with a child.

At one stage, Asad hit his brother with a wood log, killing him on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Asad went into hiding just after the incident.

A case was filed in this connection.
