The theatre group Nagaraik Natya Sampraday staged its latest production 'Kanthal Bagan' at the Experimental Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city on Friday. It was the 40th production of the theatre group.

The play 'Kanthal Bagan' is based on the play 'The Cherry Orchard' by Anton Chekhov. Script of the play is written and also directed by Aly Zaker of Nagaraik Natya Sampraday. He played the central character of the play.

Besides Aly Zaker, Sara Zaker, Pantha Shahriar, Omar Ayaz Oni, Tahnina Islam, Naznin Naz, among others, have performed in the play.

Pizush Dastidar has designed the set, while Nasirul Haque Khokon was in light direction.

The play 'Kanthal Bagan' is neither a translation nor an adaptation of Chekhov's 'The Cherry Orchard.' Folk and Baul songs were used in the folk based play.
