Birth Registration Day-2009 was observed in the district on Friday.

Information ministry and UNICEF jointly organized a discussion meeting on Mukterpara ground to mark the occasion.

Local lawmaker and freedom fighter Asraf Ali Khan Kasru attended the discussion as the chief guest while deputy sectary of information ministry Sayed Mujibul Haque was in the chair.

The meeting was addressed, among others, by deputy commissioner Mohammad Nurul Amin, acting police super Netrakona Tutul Cakrabarti and Mayor of Netrakona pourasabha Nazrul Islam Khan and district information officer Mohammad Kudrat-e-Khuda.

The discussion was followed by a cultural function.

Earlier, a colourful rally of school children was brought out in the district town here marking the birth registration day.
