Two separate complaints were lodged with Netrokona Sadar police station in two days over the issue of an untoward incident occurred allegedly at Roads and Highways office at night on June 30.

The incident has created stir among the local people. Sources said after the incident, sub-assistant engineer of the department Mohammad Kurshed Alam submitted a written complain to the police station against some local contractors of the Roads and Highways department.

In the complaint, Alam alleged that a group of local contractors created pressure on him for giving a bill of an incomplete road repair work and at one stage they physically assaulted him as he declined to take necessary action to pay the bill.

Meanwhile, a local contractor Mohammad Gazi Kamal has submitted another complain to the police station against three officers of department at Netrokona, including its executive engineer AKM Julfikar Islam and Sub-Assistant engineer Alam.

In the complaint, Kamal alleged that the sub-assistant engineers Alam demanded Taka one lakh graft from him for making a bill of Kendua-Atarabari road repairing work following directive of the executive engineer Islam and Sub-Assistant Engineer Mohammen Jazar Ahmed.

He further alleged that Alam demanded the money in presence of six other contractors.
