A bird fair was arranged at Bogbetal village on the occasion of Rathjatra under Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district on Thursday.

There is saying that King Nabaranga Roy had arranged this bird fare at the village on the occasion of Rathjatra every year in the beginning of the 1600. the landlords(Zamindars) of the period used by buy birds of their likings.

The bird fair is the special attraction of the Gupinath Rath Fair in the village bearing the history of time.

People of all ages and creed and caste gather at the fair and buy the beautiful birds. On the occasion, the local people invite their son-in-laws, which has turned to be a custom of the area.

The bird traders of Narsingdi, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet and Mymensingh bring various beautiful birds and sale those.

Bird trader Fazlur Rahman, 70, said I used to come to this fair with my father from my boyhood. Still I come every year. Huge number of birds are sold in this fair. The buyers include children,youths and the older persons.
