A college girl was killed in a tragic road accident at Gopalpur bus stand in Kashiani upazila yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ranima, student of Ramdia SK College and daughter of Asaduzzaman of Pankhar Char village in Lohagara upazila.

She died on the spot as a private car hit her on Dhaka-Khulna highway at about 9:30am.

Following the accident, a bus rammed into the private car leaving the car damaged.

Police rushed to the spot and arrested two drug smugglers Alamgir and Jahangir from the car and recovered 240 bottles of Indian phensidyl from their possession.

Meanwhile, students of the college put up barricade on the highway for about an hour protesting the accident.
