Demolition of BGMEA Bhaban from project site urged Staff Reporter Citizens Rights Movement yesterday formed a human chain in front of Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University demanding implementation of 13 points including demolition of BGMEA Bhaban from the Hatirjheel project area and eliminating traffic jam of the capital. Senior Vice-President of the Movement Major (Retd) Md Mofizul Haque Sarker presided over the programme while General Secretary Tushar Rehman, water expert engineer Dr Md Enamul Haque, General Secretary of Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (BAPA) Dr Md Abdul Matin, General Secretary of Nagorik Uddyag Jakir Hossain, Ruhin Hossain Prince, Prof Dr Mahbub Hossain, Dr Md Nuruddin, Alamgir Kabir, Advocate Julfia Akter Rita, among others, spoke at the programme. The speakers strongly demanded demolition of BGMEA Bhaban from nearby Hatirjhel project to implement the project properly and eliminate traffic jam in the capital. They also demanded eviction of all buildings of the city which are built without approval of Rajdhani Unnyan Kartripakkha (Rajuk). They called upon the government to take initiatives to keep free the rivers of Buriganga, Turag, Bali and Sitalakhya from dumping wastes of households and mill-industries to save the environment of Dhaka city, saying that there are no more cities in the world which are surrounded by rivers like Dhaka.
