The 34th founding anniversary of President Guard Regiment (PGR) will be observed heretoday.

President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit the PGR headquarters, said a press release yesterday.

Formed in 1975 with 407 members, PGR has now developed into a unit of more than 1,500 members providing protocol and security to the president and the prime minister of the country and their immediate family members and the VVIPs as per the government decision.

Visiting foreign heads of state, heads of government and dignitaries also receive the PGR protection.
