Robber is on the rise in different areas of Jessore and mass robbery were committed in some villages of Sharsha, Avoynagar and Manirampur upazila and two persons were killed in firing by dacoits.

A dacoity was committed at the house of Isarat Sheikh on last Wednesday at Diapara village under Avoynagar upazila. The inmates of the house started hue and cry after the 15-20 dacoits stormed the house. The dacoits injured Isharul Sheikh with lethal weapons and Nilufar Begum and her son Rani Sheikh were beaten mercilessly. A baby of Nilufar Begum taking from her lap threw the baby outside.

The dacoits looted goods and cash worth taka five lakh from the house. The dacoits also attacked the house of Nimai Bowmik of the same village the same night. As the inmates of the house started to cry, the dacoits fled the scene opening fire. A youth named Avijit received bullet injury.

The dacoits also attacked several houses of the upazila the same night and looted goods and cash from there.

A dacoits was committed at a house of Hakoba village under Manirampur upazila the same night. The dacoits took away cash taka 65, 000 and five tolas of gold from the house showing arms.

The same night, the dacoits numbering around 15-20, looted 30 trucks, which were carrying imported goods, at Kuchemora under Sharsha upazila. The dacoity was committed in the trucks, which were coming from Bhomra land port. A mass dacoits was committed at Nawapara village of Sharsha upazila. A group of 40-50 dacoits attacked the houses of Abdul Haque, Habullah, Azhar, Rafiqul Islam, Aziz Sarker, Moslem Ali and Altaf Hossain. They looted 38 cattles and goods worth several lakh taka. After the villagers came to know the matter, the dacoits fled blasting several bombs.

Shalen Master of village Shekhati under Avynagar upazila was killed by dacoits on June19. The dacoits attacked the house of the victim and neighbours Swapan and Thakur. He shouted that dacoits have attacked his house. The dacoits opened fire at him killing him. The dacoits looted goods and cash worth taka over four lakh from these three villages.
