BDR mutiny: 57 army officers among 74 killed BSS, Dhaka Home Minister Advocate Sahara Kathun told the House on Monday that a total of 74 persons, including 57 army officers, were killed in BDR mutiny at Pilkhana on February 25-26. Replying to a question raised by treasury bench member Begum Meher Afroz, she said the other people, who were killed in the carnage, included a retired army officer, an army personnel, two wives of army officers, three section officers, seven BDR personnel and three civilians. The Minister said each family of the army officers martyred in the gruesome carnage was provided with Taka five lakh as immediate help by the Army Headquarters, Taka 50,000 by BDR and Taka 10 lakh by the government. Besides, she said, the Bankers Association of Bangladesh decided to provide Taka 40,000 monthly to each family of the army victims for 10 years. The total amount for one year has already been given to each of these families, she added. Sahara Khatun said arrangements have also been made for helping the study of children of the martyred army officers while provision for giving jobs to their spouses is under process.
