Joint Secretary of the Local Government Ministry Hasanur Rahman was suspended Monday following charges of 'impropriety' made by a foreigner.

"He was first made OSD and then suspended altogether in two successive orders of the establishment ministry on Monday," said a ministry spokesperson Ali Hossain.

Another establishment ministry official, not wishing to be named, told bdnews24.com that a top female official of a foreign organisation in Bangladesh brought the allegation to the prime minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing Hasanur Rahman of "improper behaviour".

"The prime minister herself looked into the allegation," said the official.

The prime minister's office immediately ordered the establishment ministry to remove him from his post, and then to suspend him.

On an another establishment ministry order, chairman of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, additional secretary SMA Mannan was made OSD, withdrawing him from the post.
