IUB organises international workshop on information literacy

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) on Monday organized an international workshop on "Information Literacy" at the School of Business, IUB, Baridhara Campus in the city.

Towhid Samad, Chairman, Governing Council of IUB, inaugurated the workshop while Prof. Gary Gorman, Professor of information management, Victoria University of Wellington and one of the facilitator of the workshop delivered address of welcome speech.

A total of 34 participants from 8 countries participated in the workshop, which was sponsored by International Federation of Library Associations and Institution (IFLA).

Professor Nazrul Islam (director, SLASS, IUB and Chairman IWIL Advisory), M. Al Mamun (Secretary-Asia Pacific Region, IFLA), Dr. M. Anwer (Director School of Engineering and Computer Science, IUB), Professor M Omar Rahman (Pro Vice Chancellor, IUB), Professor Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury (Vice Chancellor, IUB) spoke on the.

The workshop provided knowledge on IL and Building capacity by the library professionals so that the librarians can make themselves qualified enough to teach its users information and literacy skills.

The workshop will also help in playing a significant role by introducing and ensuring that librarians make best utilization of its resources.
