44 more BDR men placed on remand

Forty-four more BDR Jawans were placed on remand, while other Jawans made confessional statements yesterday in the BDR mutiny case.

Fifteen Jawans were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday on completion of remand and Criminal Investigation Department, (CID) sought a seven-day remand afresh for ten of them, while Metropolitan Magistrate Mominul Hassan granted a four-day remand each.

Meanwhile, Habildar Omar Ali, Nayek Md Imtaj Ali, Lance Nayeks Mahmudul Hossain, Hafizur Rahman, Sepoys Md Kashem Ali, Mehdi Hasan, Nuruzzaman, Tuhin Alam Basir and Shahidul confessed about their involvement in the mutiny at Peelkhana BDR Headquarters on February 25-26.

Meanwhile thirty-four other border guards were brought to the court from jail and the CID sought a ten-day remand each for all of them while Magistrate Mominul Hassan granted remand for 5 days each.

Besides other five guards who were also brought to the court on completion of remand and as there was no further remand prayer against them, they were sent to the jail including the ten Jawans who made confessions Sunday.
