Two union parishad chairmen were injured critically as a truck rammed into their motorbike at Balupur in Kamarkhand upazila on Thursday.

The victims were identified as chairman of Bhadraghat union parishad Shafiqul Islam, 43, and Shahidul Islam, 38, chairman of Jawal union parishad of Kamarkhand upazila.

Police and witnesses said a sand-laden truck hit the motorbike carrying the two chairmen at about 3:45pm while they were returning home, leaving them injured critically.

The injured were rushed to Abisina Hospital in the district town. Later, they were shifted to a hospital in Dhaka following deterioration of their health.
