The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bianibazar thana Sayed Munaymul Islam who was shot dead Tuesday night was buried in his family graveyard.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nur Mohammad and Director General of RAB Hasan Mahmud Khondker attended his janaza and visited remote village of Kalaiura where Munaymul was shot dead and sub-inspector Mujibur Rahman wounded in their bid to disperse two clashing groups at 9-30pm.

Nur Mohammad assured the family of the victim of rounding up the killers at any cost.

Additional police was deployed in the area as tension prevailed.

Police and villagers suspect that Moyezuddin, an identified terrorist, and his associates were involved in the killing of the OC.

He is also nephew of upazila chairman and local Awami League leader Abdul Khaliq Mayun.

Some of the villagers said they have seen Moyezuddin and his associates fleeing towards the border with India.
