A Jubo League leader was killed in an attack allegedly by supporters of BNP at Narayanpur Bazaar in Belabo upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 40, president of Sarrabad union Jubo League of the upazila.

Belabo thana Officer-in-Charge Borhanuddin said Sattar locked into an altercation with the Sarrabad union parishad chairman Tanvir Ahmed Monday noon.

As a sequel to Monday's incident, supporters of Tanvir beat up Sattar mercilessly in the evening, leaving him dead on the spot.

Protesting the killing, Jubo League activists set fire on 15 houses of BNP men yesterday morning.

The body was sent to district general hospital morgue for autopsy.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area to avert further trouble. A case was filed.
