First financial IT case competition begins in July Business Report The first Financial IT Case Competition (FICC) will be kicked off from July 11. 54 teams including public and private universities and institutions of the country will participate in the business and IT based competition. Citi Foundation will fund where Development Research Network (D.Net) is the organiser of the programme. University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is the university partner and Multimedia Content and Communications Ltd is the event manager of the programme. Contest Director Syed Akhter Hossain, Professor, ULAB inaugurated the competition formally at a press conference yesterday ULAB conference room. Syed Akhter Hossain said that the contest is aimed to cut the gap between professional and academic lessons. On the other hand we paid huge amount of money to the foreign IT professionals for simple business related tasks though we have IT genius at university he added. The competition will be a great platform for the both business and IT pupil he opined. "The main goal of the competition is to promote a culture of business and technology development amongst the future leaders of the country based on the local needs as well as global business demands ", Executive Director of D.Net Dr Annaya Raihan, said and added, "the competition will help students prove their merit." The essence of the competition is direct participation of the stakeholder in the process of development contest and this in turn creates awareness among the stakeholder on the huge possibility of adoption of technology in business sectors he said. A separate jury panel has been formed comprising members from industry and academia to asses all the development works based on the project evaluation guideline during the preliminary rounds and the final round. Among others, Professor Imran Rahman, Pro Vice Cahncellor of ULAB, Ferhat Anwar, Professor of Institute of Business Administration, Atiqur Rahman, D.Net and Parvez Murshed, Head of Global Transactions Services, Citi Bank NA Bangaldesh were present in the conference.
