Realistic decision to be taken to reform national university

The National University will take realistic decision to reform the university through establishment of good administration in a bid to brighten the image of the university and increase the quality of education in college level.

University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Nazrul Islam said this while speaking at a seminar on 'Bangladesh's environment and foreign aggressive tree species' on the World Environment Day-2009 on Monday at the National University.

He said the university is working to take the realistic decision considering the interest of 1000,000 students,1,800 colleges and teachers, officers and employees of universities.

Bangladesh Development Council Chairman Dr. Kazi Khalikuzzaman Ahmed, was present at the seminar as the special guest.

The seminar with Vice-Chancellor of the National University Dr. Kazi Sha-hidullah, the keynote paper was submitted by Pro-vice-chancellor of Stamford University Prof. Dr. Khondaker Moudud Ilahi. In the keynote paper Prof. Ilahi stressed the need for planting local fruit bearing and herbal plants for a forestation.

Dr. Khalikuzzaman said the global warming is increasing due to green house gas. Although Bangladesh does contributes in the green house gas emission, but Bangladesh is facing natural calamities due to the impact of global warming. For this reason, Bangladesh is also facing food insecurity, energy and drinking water crises.
