1065 posts of pry teachers vacant in Barisal division

Posts of 1065 teachers of government primary schools have been lying vacant in Barisal division for long, hampering primary education of the region.

Barisal divisional education office sources said there are 5,597, including 3,479 government and 2,118 non-government primary schools in the division.

Posts of 241 out of 3,479 headmasters and 824 out of 14,256 assistant teachers are lying vacant for long in the government primary schools in six districts of the division.

In 951 government primary schools of Barisal district, 67 posts of headmasters and 334 posts of assistant teachers are lying vacant.

Posts of 45 headmasters and 120 assistant teachers are lying vacant in 528 government primary schools in Jhalakati, 30 headmasters and 195 assistant teachers in 605 primary schools in Pirojpur, 27 headmasters and 50 assistant teachers in Patuakhali, 29 headmasters and seven assistant teachers in 389 government primary schools in Barguna, 43 headmasters and 118 assistant teachers in 424 government primary schools in Bhola district.

Vacancies have been created due to resignation after getting better chance in other services, retirement, death or transfer of the headmasters as well as holding up promotion and recruitment against vacant posts for long, said Muhammad Moslehuddin, Barisal district primary education officer.
