A month-long trade fair began at Maijdi Shaheed Bhulu stadium here on Thursday.

MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the fair organised by Noakhali Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Chaired by chamber president industrialist Anowar Mirza, the inaugural function was also attended by Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman Advocate Shihabuddin Shahin and Deputy Commissioner M Mizanur Rahman as special guests.

A total of 118 stalls were established in the fair displaying various products, including Rajshahi silk, Jamdani sari, tribal dress and leather goods.

Valuables including motorcycle worth Tk 2 lakh looted in Bogra Created On: 12/06/2009 11:10 AM Bogra, June 12 (UNB) - Highwaymen looted valuables, including a motorcycle, worth Tk 2 lakh after putting barricade on a road in Nandigram upazila on Wednesday night.

Police said armed bandits, numbering 6-7, put barricade near Dolgachha crossing on Namuit-Singra road with a rope at around 8pm. They halted Majnu Miah, 28, and his co-rider of Brikunji village while they were returning home in a motorbike.

They later looted the motorcycle, three mobile phone sets and a gold chain from their possession at gunpoint.

A case was filed with the police in this connection.
