A cold storage was gutted in a fire at Matirghat under Double Mooring thana in the city on Friday noon.

Fire Service sources said the fire originated at 'Karnaphuli Cold Storage' from sparks during welding works at 12:10pm.

On information, nine fire fighting units from different fire stations of the city rushed to the spot and doused the fire after one and a half hours.

Two firemen were also injured while extinguishing fire.

Fire fighters said the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 10 lakh.
