Budget is highly ambitious and as usual: Khulna Chamber president says

Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry President (KCCI) Shaharuzzaman Murtoza said in his reaction that the announced proposed national budget for 2009-2010 fiscal is highly ambitious and as usual.

He, however, appreciated the government for keeping the highest allocation in education sector and followed by agriculture and rural development sector.

He said it would be very helpful for the socio-economic development in this region for special allocation of Taka 400 crore to develop haor-baor and water resources in the southwestern region.

It would also be supportive for the economic development of the country in forming a structural investment fund, developing social, material infrastructures and general service sector.

Private participation to develop electricity, set up coal based power plant, renewable fuel development activities and coal policy for power production will accelerate the country's economy.

He welcomed the government to keep allocation for capital dredging of the development of Mongla port, new machinery supply of cargo handling, development of two jetties and modernization of the port.

He also thanked the government for keeping allocation to the development project of Taka 600 crore in protecting biological diversity of the world famous mangrove Sunderbans.

Barage construction over Mongla river and water controlling will keep outstanding contribution in farming in the southern part of the country.
