Rajshahi University reopens June 1 after 83 days Our Correspondent, Rajshahi The Rajshahi University reopens on June 1 after 83 days after it was closed sine die following a bloody clash between Bangladesh Chattra League(BCL) and Chattra Shibir. The clash between the two groups of students left one leader of Chattra Shibir killed and 50 others injured on both sides. The decision to reopen the university was taken by the University Syndicate on May 12 at a meeting and decided to reopen the dormitories on May 30. The university was closed for indefinite period on March 13 following the clash of the students of the groups. Univrsity Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Abdus Sobhan told newsmen at his residence on Friday that the students will have to show the identity cards to law enforcing agencies to enter the campus as only the residential students will be allowed to stay in the dormitories. The university authorities has also banned on holding rally, procession and political activities on the campus for indefinite period on the campus. The authorities also banned distribution of leaflets or booklets, use of posters and loud speaker on the campus. The authorities has handed over the responsibility to control law and order on the campus to the law enforcers in line with university act 1973. Vice-chancellor Prof. M Abdus Sobhan sought help and cooperation of students, teachers, officers and employees to maintain law and order on the campus and maintain congenial atmosphere for smooth running of the university.
