The extortion case filed against Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her cousin and former Minister Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim was finally withdrawn yesterday.

Judge Mozammel Hosain of Special Tribunal 3 of Dhaka passed the order withdrawing the case filed on June 13,2007 with Gulshan Thana of the city. Ajam J. Chowdhury,

Managing Director of East Coast Trading Private Limited filed the case against the accused for extorting Taka three thousand crore.

Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Selim were arrested in the case. Sheikh Selim also made confessional statement in the case. However, on December 24 last year Ajam J. Chowdhury applied for withdrawal of the case. As in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court there was an order of stay about the case, necessary step was made to pave the way for withdrawing the case.

The Public Prosecutor applied to the Court for withdrawing the case and following it, the Judge of the Special Tribunal passed the order Sunday for withdrawal of the case.
